Toe Beans Bassendean settles comfortably into the local café scene along Old Perth Road, carving out a spot popular with morning diners and midweek coffee seekers alike. It’s the kind of place locals drop into for a relaxed breakfast or a weekend brunch that leans on fresh, straightforward fare with a few creative twists.

The interior has a quirky, approachable vibe—as several visitors have noted, it’s warmly inviting without trying too hard on the décor. You won’t find a rush here on most weekend mornings, which allows for a leisurely meal or a quiet coffee catch-up. The staff come across as genuinely friendly and happy to chat about the menu, which helps keep the experience grounded and easygoing.

The menu balances well-known breakfast classics with a few standout dishes like the chilli prawn omelette and avocado rosti topped with salmon that catch local attention. There’s also a good range for those wanting lighter or more varied options, from poke bowls to vegetarian breakfast plates, and some comfort-food highlights like biscoff pancakes or a warming winter porridge.

Coffee is a solid focus here, with locals appreciating generous serve sizes and a well-pulled shot whether you’re after an iced long black or a specialty latte like hojicha. Smoothies and teas fill out the drink options, often served with environmentally mindful touches such as reusable metal straws.

Toe Beans works well for anyone looking for a casual breakfast or lunch with friends or solo, especially if you appreciate a quieter spot away from busy hubs but still along a main road. Early weekdays or late mornings on weekends tend to be the best times to enjoy the space without feeling rushed or crowded.

Overall, the café fits neatly into Bassendean’s local rhythm — a welcoming stretch on Old Perth Road where simple, quality food and good coffee come with attentive service and a relaxed, slightly quirky atmosphere.

The food at the place is good and the coffee is good also. I think there were two coffee sizes for dine in. The large serve was large indeed. I got an Eggs Benedict with Salmon. Over 20 but below 25 dollars. The stand out from this place was the Eggs on Toast. I believe it was 13.50 and it was a large helping. A bit spicy. I went on a weekend for lunch. It was not too busy

Have visited here a few times, the first time I ordered the chilli prawn omelette. It was pretty quiet however the food took a while, the omelette was nice however needed seasoning. On the second visit it was very busy but the food came out pretty quick. I ordered the toe beans con arrabiatta which was flavoursome! I tried both the chicken and vegetable dumplings, I preferred the vegetable as it had a bit more flavour but both were nice and had a good amount of filling. Pretty small cafe, service was friendly, order at the counter and there is plenty of parking around.

Had breakfast here this morning, friendly service, great food and drinks, and very cute decor! My favourite detail was that my smoothie had a reusable metal straw.

Always hesitant to rate atmosphere coz we are there for the food mostly. The food was excellent and service satisfactory. As far as I'm concerned so long as they aren't rude then they're good - having said that I do like to see people smiling - call me old fashioned.

Super cute cat themed brunch spot. I had the eggs Benedict with salmon and side of hasbrowns and it was all very delicious Great coffee. It’s a shame the inside seating is so small (that’s why I gave less rating for atmosphere) but will definitely be back in the warmer weather
